Fruit, Forest, Fresh!

November 14, 2019

Today’s hospitality-inspired concoctions may appear at first to combine two unlikely friends. In what ways do White Grapefruit and the dōTERRA fir oils, Douglas and Siberian, best combine? What good can they accomplish together? Well, citrus and fir essential oils are actually better suited for each other than you might think! When clean, fresh, and woody meets light, sweet, and delicious, magical things can happen.

As we enter into this season of gathering together for the holidays, thoughts abound of increasing the inviting nature of our homes by cleaning up and creating fresh spaces. Entertaining means kitchen counters are suddenly covered end-to-end with all sorts of festive dishes (and messes), so let’s start with a fresh-smelling kitchen spray to put our fruit and forest combination to the test.

To make Citrus Forest Kitchen Spray you’ll need:

12-16 oz. stainless steel or glass spray bottle

4 ounces white vinegar

8 ounces water

10 drops White Grapefruit essential oil

10 drops Siberian Fir essential oil

10 drops Lemon essential oil

1 teaspoon dish soap (optional)

Combine all ingredients in spray bottle and shake. Note that glass/stainless steel are always preferable to plastic when it comes to essential oil storage. Give new life to stinky washcloths when you spray and wipe down surfaces with this fresh cleaning mist!

Bring the scents of White Grapefruit and Douglas or Siberian Fir into your living spaces. With lots of guests dropping in, you’ll want to pay special attention to the rooms with the most comings and goings, most notably the living area and bathroom. To make Citrus Forest Room Spray, place several drops of dōTERRA White Grapefruit, Bergamot, Lavender, and your favorite fir oil into a spray bottle with water. Mist into the air as needed. To allow the fruity forest atmosphere to overtake a larger living space, diffuse the following well-rounded compilation of aromas.

Sweet Trees Diffuser Blend

3 drops Siberian Fir

3 drops White Grapefruit

2 drops Douglas Fir

2 drops Green Mandarin

You’ll make your home even more hospitable and healthful with these simple mixtures! Refreshing, energizing, and balancing - turns out citrus and fir are a match made in heaven.
